Leo Chevon Review

Almost every jewellery brand a Norwegian man ends up comparing is foreign. Leo Chevon is the exception: an Oslo brand, founded in 2018, shipping domestically, with a catalogue built around clean Scandinavian shapes rather than the heavy chain look most of the category chases.

That makes it worth a proper look rather than a quick dismissal. This review covers what the brand actually sells, the real prices in kroner, what is published about materials and what is not, how the returns policy reads in practice, and where it sits next to a chain specialist.

Disclosure up front: we run Monrich, so read the comparison knowing that. Everything below about Leo Chevon comes from their own published pages at the time of writing. As a reference while you read, the men's cuban chains collection shows the category we specialise in.

Section 01

Quick verdict

Leo Chevon is a genuine Norwegian brand doing a specific thing well: minimalist, design-led pieces in sterling silver and gold-plated steel, sold domestically with the friction of foreign buying removed entirely.

Where a buyer should look closely: the catalogue is design-first rather than chain-first, so the heavy cuban and curb styles are not really its territory; plating thickness and process are not published; and the returns window is 14 days with a fixed return fee, which is shorter and less forgiving than several foreign competitors offer.

If you want Scandinavian minimalism bought locally, it is the obvious starting point in Norway. If you want a declared gold-plating spec on a chain you will wear every day, that is a different shelf, and we cover it honestly below.

Section 02

Who is Leo Chevon?

a quiet chain worn under a collar: the register Leo Chevon designs for

Established in Oslo in 2018, Leo Chevon describes itself as striving "always to create jewelry that is both minimalist and modern", with emphasis on quality and long lifespan. The brand also puts real weight on sustainability: reduced CO₂ footprint, recyclable packaging, and production choices it describes as sustainable.

The naming tells you the design language better than any description: Oslo, Bergen, Paris, Roma, Rennes, Napoli, California, London. City names on quiet pieces, aimed at a buyer who wants jewellery that reads as considered rather than loud.

In practice the range covers necklaces, letter and pendant pieces, and stone-set designs, with sterling silver at the top of the range and gold-plated steel through the middle. It is a small, curated catalogue rather than an everything-store, which is a legitimate strategy and one we recognise: we run a short catalogue too.

Section 03

Representative pieces and real prices

Prices published on the brand's own necklace collection at the time of writing, in Norwegian kroner:

Piece Price Stated material
Rennes Snake Chain 449 kr 18K forgylt stål (also in steel)
Paris Tennis Necklace 489 kr (from 699 kr) 18K gullforgylt stål
Roma Chain (XS-L) 499-699 kr 18K forgylt stål / stål
Napoli Twisted 599 kr 18K forgylt stål / stål
Oslo Pearl 899 kr Freshwater pearls
Bergen Texture 999-1 099 kr 925 sterlingsølv / 18K gullforgylt sølv
Oslo Larvikite 1 199 kr 925 sterlingsølv

Two things stand out. First, the range genuinely spans roughly 335 to 1 199 kr, so it is not a premium-only brand. Second, the Oslo Larvikite piece uses larvikite, the stone from Larvik, which is exactly the kind of local detail a foreign brand cannot fake and a Norwegian buyer might actually want.

What you will not find easily is a cuban or panserlenke line. The chain shapes lean snake, Roma and twisted rather than the heavy interlocking links. There is a tennis piece, which is worth knowing if that is the style you came for.

Section 04

Materials, and what is declared

macro of a plated link: process and thickness are what decide how long the colour lasts

Leo Chevon works across four constructions, and the product pages name them clearly: 925 sterlingsølv, 18K gullforgylt sølv (gilded silver), 18K forgylt stål (gold-plated steel) and plain rustfritt stål.

Naming the base metal on every piece is more than a lot of the category does, and it deserves credit. Sterling silver is a precious metal with real hallmark value; it will develop patina and ask for occasional polishing, which is normal rather than a fault.

What is not published, at the time of writing, is the plating side of the equation: no process (PVD, IP or standard electroplating), no thickness in microns, and no written guarantee specific to plating wear on the brand's public pages. That is the industry norm rather than an outlier, and it does not mean the plating is poor. It does mean you cannot compare it on paper against a brand that publishes numbers.

For contrast, and stated as our own position rather than a neutral fact: Monrich publishes 1-2 microns of 18K gold PVD on 316L stainless steel on every product page, and backs it with a written 12-month tarnish guarantee. Different construction, different promise, both legitimate.

Section 05

Delivery, returns and the local advantage

This is where buying Norwegian genuinely pays, and it should be said plainly.

Shipping is domestic: free from 699 kr, otherwise 49 kr, with delivery inside Norway rather than across a border. No import processing, no customs handling fee, no waiting on a parcel stuck in a queue. For a buyer who has been burned by a foreign order, that alone can be worth the price difference.

The returns terms are stricter than the marketing-friendly numbers elsewhere in the category. The published policy runs 14 days, with a fixed 69 kr return cost deducted from the refund, and 59 kr for an exchange. Items must be unused and in original packaging, and opened or used earrings are excluded for hygiene reasons. Damage or manufacturing faults are handled by contacting the brand with photos and an order number.

Read against the category, 14 days is short: Norwegian and EU consumer rules set a 14-day floor for distance selling, so this is the legal minimum rather than an added benefit. Several foreign competitors run 30 days or more and absorb the return cost. That is a real difference worth weighing against the convenience of domestic delivery.

Section 06

The import question, in plain terms

a plated chain worn in water: whatever the border question, construction decides the lifespan

Buying Norwegian removes a question that hangs over every foreign order, so it is worth stating what that question actually is.

Norway sits outside the EU, so goods bought abroad have a tax dimension. Serious foreign sellers register in the VOEC scheme and collect Norwegian VAT at checkout, which means the total you see is the total you pay and the parcel moves without import processing. Sellers outside the scheme can mean VAT plus handling fees applied on delivery.

The honest rule, ours included: check what the checkout shows before judging any price, and treat a checkout that is transparent about the total as a good sign in itself. No seller can promise your exact tax outcome in an article, and you should be sceptical of any that tries. With Leo Chevon the question simply does not arise, and that is a legitimate advantage.

Section 07

Leo Chevon vs Monrich

These two brands are less rivals than neighbours: the overlap is narrower than the category would suggest, and the honest answer is that plenty of buyers should choose Leo Chevon.

Leo Chevon Monrich
Based Oslo, Norway UK, ships tracked to Norway
Core materials 925 silver, gilded silver, plated steel 316L steel, 18K gold PVD
Plating spec Not published 1-2 microns declared on every page
Plating guarantee Not published 12 months in writing
Signature styles Snake, Roma, letter, stone-set Cuban, curb, rope, tennis
Returns 14 days, 69 kr fee 30 days
Import question None, domestic Check what the checkout shows

Where Leo Chevon wins outright: it is Norwegian, it delivers domestically, it offers real sterling silver with hallmark value, and it has a design language of its own including genuinely local touches. None of that is something a foreign brand can match by trying harder.

Where we would argue our own corner: if the piece is a gold-look chain you intend to wear every day, through the gym and the shower and a Norwegian winter, then published plating thickness and a written guarantee are the things that decide whether it still looks right next autumn, and the cuban and tennis shapes are our specialty rather than a side line.

Section 08

Who should buy which

Buy Leo Chevon if you want to support a Norwegian brand, you prefer minimalist and design-led shapes over heavy chains, you want sterling silver rather than plated steel, you value domestic delivery with no import questions, or you want something with a local signature like the larvikite pieces.

Look at a chain specialist if you specifically want cuban or curb links, you want the gold look with a published plating spec and a written tarnish guarantee, you want a longer returns window, or you are building a two or three piece rotation where a permanent 2-for-1 changes the maths.

Plenty of men will sensibly own both: a silver piece with local meaning for the quiet days, and a plated chain built for everything else. Our guide to the best men's necklaces in Norway sets both against the rest of the market.

Frequently asked questions

Is Leo Chevon a Norwegian brand?

Yes. Leo Chevon was established in Oslo in 2018 and sells directly to Norwegian customers with domestic delivery, which means no import processing and no customs handling on your order.

What are Leo Chevon pieces made of?

The product pages name the base material on each piece: 925 sterling silver, 18K gilded silver, 18K gold-plated steel, or plain stainless steel. Plating process and thickness in microns are not published at the time of writing.

How much does Leo Chevon cost?

Necklaces run roughly 335 to 1 199 kr. The snake and Roma chains sit around 449-699 kr, while sterling silver pieces such as Bergen Texture and Oslo Larvikite reach 999-1 199 kr.

What is Leo Chevon's return policy?

The published policy is 14 days, with a fixed 69 kr return cost deducted from the refund and 59 kr for an exchange. Items must be unused and in original packaging, and used earrings are excluded for hygiene reasons.

Does Leo Chevon sell cuban chains?

Not as a core line at the time of writing. The chain styles lean snake, Roma and twisted rather than cuban or curb links, though there is a tennis necklace in the range. For cuban and curb styles you will be comparing other brands.
