Le Gramme Review UK 2026: Italian Luxury Tested

Commercial Review

The packaging weighs more than most £40 chains.

Minimal band ring men, the Le Gramme precision aesthetic

The Monrich Team · 8 min read · 2026/09

That’s the first detail you notice with a Le Gramme piece. The box is dense card stock. The interior fabric is a deeper black than the standard. The bracelet inside is heavier than its dimensions suggest because the metal is actually the metal, not a stainless steel core wrapped in micron-thick gold.

Le Gramme is the French brand that figured out the men’s minimal luxury jewellery game in the 2010s. Every piece is named after its weight in grams. The price scales accordingly. The question for UK buyers in 2026 is whether £325 for a sterling silver bracelet that weighs 17 grams is actually a good deal, or whether you’re buying the box.

You can see the current minimalist men's jewellery line-up for reference as you read.

Section 01

Quick verdict

Stacked plain silver rings worn together

Le Gramme is the real thing. Materials are genuine (925 silver, 18K solid gold, no plated bases on their main range), manufacturing is Vicenza Italian craft, designs are restrained and architectural. For a buyer wanting one or two pieces to keep for decades, Le Gramme is one of the few brands that delivers what the price suggests.

What holds it back for most buyers: the entry price is £200, the upper range hits £2500+, and the aesthetic is intentionally minimal which won’t satisfy buyers who want statement or street pieces. If you want chunky, iced-out, or hip-hop adjacent designs, Le Gramme is not it.

Section 02

Who is Le Gramme?

Le Gramme is a French brand launched in 2012 in Paris. The founding concept is that each piece is named after its weight in grams (5g, 7g, 11g, 17g, etc.), making the value transparent: you know exactly how much metal you are buying.

Quick facts:

  • Founded: 2012
  • HQ: Paris, France
  • Manufacturing: Vicenza (Italy) for chains, French ateliers for some other pieces
  • Price range: £200-3000+ (most pieces £350-900)
  • Categories: chains, bracelets, rings, bangles, cufflinks
  • Materials: 925 sterling silver, 18K solid gold (not plated), some titanium
  • Audience: men 30-55, design-aware, minimal aesthetic, high spending power

Le Gramme is sold direct and through select luxury retailers (Mr Porter, Liberty London, Dover Street Market). Their store on Rue de Marignan in Paris is a destination for minimal men’s jewellery.

The piece I tested

Sculptural open cuff bracelet in silver

Cable Bracelet 17g (925 sterling silver)

A 17-gram polished sterling silver cable bracelet. £325.

First impressions: the weight is noticeable. Silver has a different density than stainless and the bracelet feels substantially heavier than equivalent stainless pieces. Polish is mirror finish. The clasp is a custom Le Gramme clasp (not a standard lobster), which is part of the brand’s design signature.

The piece arrives in a Le Gramme box with a small card stating the weight, dimensions, and material. The packaging is intentional and itself communicates a different price tier.

Section 04

Materials and craftsmanship

Le Gramme uses 925 sterling silver and 18K solid gold as its base materials. No plating. No stainless steel base. The piece is the metal it claims to be.

This is fundamentally different from every other brand in this review series:

  • Craftd / Cernucci / Twojeys: 316L stainless steel + 18K gold electroplating (0.3-0.5 microns plating, lifespan 3-6 months)
  • Vitaly / Monrich: 316L stainless steel + 18K gold PVD plating (1-2 microns, lifespan 12+ months)
  • Miansai (sterling line): 925 sterling silver + 14K gold vermeil (2.5+ microns plating, lifespan 2-5 years)
  • Le Gramme: 925 sterling silver or 18K solid gold (the metal itself)

The Le Gramme price reflects that the entire piece is the valuable metal. A 17g sterling silver bracelet at £325 contains 17 grams of silver (current market value of metal alone: about £15-18), and the rest is craftsmanship, design, brand, and Vicenza manufacturing labour.

Manufacturing in Vicenza is real. Vicenza is the global capital for high-end men’s chain manufacturing. The chain links on a Le Gramme piece are forged, soldered, and polished by hand by craftsmen who have done this for decades.

Section 05

Wear test results

Fine silver chain flat lay

I wore the 17g cable bracelet for 8 months.

The silver tarnished naturally over the first 3 months, developing a faint warm patina rather than darkening. A 30-second polish with a silver cloth brought it back to mirror finish. After 6 months I stopped polishing it and let the patina develop, which gave the piece a softer look (some buyers prefer this, some don’t).

Structurally, the bracelet did not show wear. The Le Gramme clasp continued to operate smoothly. No links bent or stretched. The piece looks identical to day one in build quality.

The expected lifespan of a properly maintained Le Gramme piece is decades. The metal will outlast the wearer. This is a different category from plated jewellery, which lives on a shorter cycle depending on plating thickness and process.

The piece that looks the part on day one and the piece that holds up at month six are rarely the same piece.
Section 06

Pricing

Le Gramme is in a different pricing tier. The £325 bracelet is in the same band as Hatton Labs sterling pieces, slightly below David Yurman, and above the entire UK D2C stainless category by 3-5x.

Piece Le Gramme Monrich (PVD plated) Solid gold equivalent (18K)
Sterling bracelet £250-500 £35-80 £1800-4000
Sterling chain £350-900 £45-150 £2000-6000
Sterling ring £180-450 £30-100 £1500-3500

Section 07

Shipping and returns

Le Gramme operates a polished international retail operation.

  • UK shipping: 3-7 working days. Free over £200.
  • UK customs: since Brexit, EU orders are subject to UK import VAT (20%) on the gross order plus possible handling. Le Gramme often pre-pays customs for UK orders (DDP shipping), check at checkout. If they don’t, expect £40-70 in additional fees on a £325 piece.
  • Returns: 30 days, you pay return shipping unless faulty.
  • Refunds: within 14 days of receipt.

For a brand at this price point, the operational quality is appropriately premium. Pre-paid customs (when available) makes the buying experience friction-free for UK customers.

Le Gramme vs Monrich

This is a comparison between two different categories. Le Gramme is solid-material luxury. Monrich is accessible PVD-plated daily wear. They serve different needs.

Where Le Gramme wins: - Solid material (no plating to wear off) - Manufacturing heritage (Vicenza) - Brand prestige - Investment-grade pieces (lifetime ownership)

Where Monrich wins: - Accessible price (£25 entry vs £200) - BOGO permanently (effectively 50% off per piece) - Classic men’s shapes and styles - Fast UK shipping with no customs

Who should buy Le Gramme?

Le Gramme makes sense if you:

  • Want one or two pieces to keep for decades as part of a personal style signature
  • Have £250-1500 budget for a single piece
  • Lean into minimal, restrained, architectural aesthetic
  • Value solid materials over plated finishes
  • Want a piece you would feel comfortable willing to your kid

Look elsewhere if you:

  • Are building a rotation of multiple pieces on a real-world budget

  • Care about chunky / iced-out / streetwear aesthetics
  • Want best price-to-style ratio for everyday wear

Frequently asked questions

Does Le Gramme jewellery tarnish?

Sterling silver pieces develop a natural patina over months of wear. A 30-second polish with a silver cloth restores mirror finish. This is normal silver behaviour, not a fault. 18K solid gold pieces do not tarnish. Le Gramme does not use plating on their main range, so there is no plating-wear issue.

Is Le Gramme real silver and gold?

Yes. Le Gramme uses 925 sterling silver and 18K solid gold as their main materials, not plating. The price reflects this: a 17g silver bracelet at £325 contains £15-18 of raw silver and the rest is craftsmanship and brand.

Is Le Gramme worth the price?

For a buy-once, keep-forever piece in minimal aesthetic, yes. The materials and manufacturing match the price. For everyday rotation pieces or statement pieces, the price-to-style ratio is hard to justify when alternatives exist at 1/5 the price.

Where is Le Gramme made?

Chains and most pieces are made in Vicenza, Italy by craftsmen who have specialised in fine chain manufacturing for generations. Some other pieces are made in French ateliers. This is real heritage manufacturing, not marketing positioning.

What's the best Le Gramme alternative for UK buyers?

For sterling silver minimal pieces at lower prices: smaller European craft brands, Hatton Labs UK. For PVD-plated stainless steel daily wear at much lower prices: Monrich. For US sterling vermeil: Miansai.
